Cecil Ko, President of Business Objects, Greater China Region is a businessman with a marathon spirit. In China and across the globe, it's common for businessmen at the executive level to play golf or tennis, however, a few years ago Cecil chose something different. He decided to pursue running and training for marathons to personally challenge his endurance and keep his body fit. He has now logged over 2000 kilometers.

Aside from his athletic endeavors, Cecil has also scored achievements in the software industry. In April 2007, he was recognized by the China Software Industry Association (CSIA) as one of the Top 10 Leaders of the Chinese Software Industry for his dedication to the development of China’s Business Intelligence (BI) industry and market. What is business intelligence? You may be unfamiliar with the exact purpose of BI, but this concept has helped numerous companies and organizations make critical business decisions and operate more efficiently. During our interview, Cecil provided some examples of how business intelligence has helped companies such as Disney, and how BI can also help in disaster relief, as was the case with Hurricane Katrina. Recently, Business Objects has also been involved in advocating the concept of a green Olympics by creating awareness of an individual's contribution to environmental pollution. He said that conservation and a green environment is becoming more important than ever in our daily life. He hopes that Beijing people could easily adopt his project.

Cecil Ko is also a marathoner in his other life pursuits, especially when it comes to learning. He is studying Chinese Classics and often adopts a Chinese philosophical perspective to communicate with his customers and friends. This Chinese philosophy drives his career as well.
